I’m having tooth issues and I need to get a crown. After all of this jazz is over, I’m going to restart my world food project, redoing Afghanistan, etc. This way I can take better photos and organize it better (and can enjoy the food more with pain free teeth!). I’m getting the temporary crown on June 3rd and then a couple weeks later I’m getting permanent crown. I would have gotten the crown by now if it weren’t for massive issues with my dental insurance (I’ve been paying for it for the past five months but due to a system error, they say I’m not covered. Or something. It’s all very rage inducing, but I’m getting it sorted out. Even then my insurance might not actually cover the crown, so…JFHJDFSHGFDHIHFDISHGFJDHSG. Whatever.)

Albanian Cookbook – I’m Excited!

So far I have cooked Pule me Arra and Gjell me Arra from Albania. I have taken photos, etc. Those posts (along with all of my missing Afghanistan posts, heh) will come later.

It is not very easy to find Albanian recipes online. Or cookbooks. I came across this cookbook on ALBANIAN COOKBOOK by St. Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church, Worcester, Mary Sahagen {Mitrush} & Beverly Martiros {Chairmen, Cookbook Committee} Women’s Guild (phew, what a mouthful!). I despaired at the price and moved on. Then I thought, hrm, why don’t I contact the church? So I did. First I looked them up online and found them here: I went to their links and found a link for the cookbook: , where it looked like they were still selling the cookbook for MUCH cheaper than Amazon. I called them to double check, and then, voila! I ordered the cookbook. They were amazingly nice on the telephone. It should be here in a week or so. I’m so excited! I’ll let you guys know when I get it.


My World Recipes and Books Project

I am super behind on posting my Afghanistan adventures (I have photos, etc.) and tonight I started on Albania. I’m cooking recipes of the world (alphabetically) and reading about them too.

The Books so far:

Recipe Books (I might not be using a recipe book for every country, so far I haven’t been able to find an Albanian one at the library, etc., as an example. I’m also using recipes from online):

World Food & History Journaling Project

I’ve decided that I’m going to do a World Food & History journaling project. I’m going to be cooking food from, and reading books about, the current sovereign nations of the world. I’m doing them in alphabetical order, starting with Afghanistan. I’ll be posting journal entries about the project as I go along.

I’ve already started on Afghanistan, so a post will be coming about that shortly (for dinner tonight I made Aush-E-Ali from Afghan Food & Cookery: Noshe Djan by Helen Saberi).
